Contract & Licensing Intern

About this Role

Tech companies live on contracts — client service agreements, software licenses, NDAs, IP assignments, and vendor agreements. You'll draft, review, and maintain these documents for VoBot and its clients, ensuring that creative work is properly protected and commercial relationships are clearly defined. You'll learn the nuances of software IP, open-source licensing obligations, and what makes a contract enforceable versus aspirational. This role is ideal for law students who want to specialize in technology and commercial law.

What You'll Do

• Draft client service agreements, statements of work (SOWs), and retainer contracts
• Prepare NDA templates and customized confidentiality agreements for specific project types
• Review and advise on software licensing terms — open-source, proprietary, and SaaS
• Draft IP assignment clauses and work-for-hire agreements for freelancer engagements
• Maintain a contract template library that the team can adapt for new engagements
• Research case law and regulatory guidance on relevant technology law questions
• Assist in negotiating contract redlines with clients and vendors

What We're Looking For

• Pursuing or completed LLB with an interest in commercial or technology law
• Basic understanding of contract law principles (offer, acceptance, consideration, breach)
• Familiarity with open-source licenses (MIT, GPL, Apache) and their implications
• Clear, precise legal writing — ambiguity in contracts causes expensive disputes
• Ability to research independently using legal databases and publicly available resources
